We went for a short trip yesterday. It seems like we’ve been here forever. Delays are for a purpose, I’m sure. I’m just not sure what many times.

The trip was most enjoyable. Travel through a national forest and places we’ve never been before. We took a rest at a picnic area that was so restful and peaceful. We even tried two restaurants that turned out to be quite wonderful choices. A fun day.

We stopped frequently as that seems to be a partial solution to my health issue. We’re adding more stops as a result when we travel. So, we stopped for the 2nd time, and as I was walking I spotted this horse.

A horse in the shade

I thought to myself that the horse was smart enough to stand in a shaded spot, considering the heat. But then I looked closer. No tail switching. No ears moving.

Not really a horse upon a closer look

I walked a little closer. I was totally fooled by this horse. It looks so real. How about you? Did you too think it was just resting in the shade?

We all get fooled at one time or another. I was again yesterday. However, we are to be on our guard. This time it was harmless, but there will come a time when it will not be so innocent. Then it will be a deliberate attempt to deceive us. The Bible tells us to, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?” (Matt. 7:15-16 niv) How can I prepare? By grounding myself firmly in the Bible and its truths. It is to be a constant in my life. How about yours?

Boo with Nick,

  1. P.S. The horse looks very real. An example of how we can easily be fooled. What you see is not always what you get!
